National Campaign to Support Emission Reduction Action Kit

The first Emission Reduction Plan is due to release at the end of May 2022. This is the first time New Zealanders have had the opportunity to see and comment on the targets for carbon emission reduction in three steps to 2035.

We at the Nelson Tasman Climate Forum think it’s important to show our political representatives how important it is that they collaborate and act on this most crucial of issues. As part of Climate Action Week we’ve come up with a campaign to tell our politicians how we feel about the plan.  We’re encouraging all New Zealanders to send a postcard to their representatives, urging them to get behind the plan to reduce emissions. We’ve put together an action kit to make things easy for you. You can access that HERE

But why postcards?

-They’re easy, you can make them yourself, or pick one up from a charity shop

-Post to Parliament is free

-Postcards will send a strong visual message of support, something that can’t be achieved using petitions or emails.

Our handy guide below will tell you who you should be writing to, to do it and we've thrown in a couple of examples of what you could write to inspire you!

We can’t do everything, but everyone can do something…and sending a postcard is easy and effective so let's do it!

Please share and recommend resources here that are of interest to the whole Forum.

Share materials that enable us to fulfill our purpose of weaving individuals, households, civil society organisations, businesses, councils and iwi together around urgent, strategic action on climate change in the Nelson-Tasman region.

These may include both resources created by  NTCF participants and also external material. They may be works of art, books, papers, videos, podcasts, webinars, weblinks etc.

Resources that are primarily of interest at the group level should be posted in the Project Documents of the  relevant group.

When you share a resource here, please make your write-up interesting and relevant to audiences beyond our NTCF membership. This is important because the resources posted here appear in a feed on the public front page of our website.

Please choose a category (NTCF-Core, NTCF-General or External) and use tags when you add a new resource. Choose the EXTERNAL category for any resource that was not created by members of the Forum.

If you have created the resource please use the Author Bio field so that your name and profile image appear with it. If you're recommending a resource, consider  identifying yourself in in the text of the post.

If your resource  involves uploading a file, please be aware that the size limit is 7mb. File storage for this site is not free, and Ning imposes a file size limit  to help us stay within our storage quota. A positive aspect of the limit is that it reminds us to be mindful of our digital carbon footprint.
